Ventriculostomy Procedure

The exhibit displays the superolateral and lateral views of a ventriculostomy procedure to drain cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) buildup and release elevated intracranial pressure. The first step in this procedure is to create a small scalp incision. The second step is to create burr holes in order to insert the ventriculostomy catheter. The catheter is the inserted through the brain into the ventricle system to drain CSF.
