Total Thyroidectomy

This 3d medical courtroom animation shows the steps to a total thyroidectomy. A small incision is created in the anterior portion of the neck. The laryngeal nerves are visualized and tracked before dissection begins. The right lobe is then rotated medially, revealing the right recurrent laryngeal nerve densely adhered to the thyroid. The nerve is dissected free with a peanut dissector. The same is performed on the left side. The thyroid is then removed whole.
