The Autonomic Nervous System

The Autonomic Nervous System

This exhibit shows the autonomic nervous system involving the parasympathetic and sympathetic systems. The sympathetic system (norepinephrine) is responsible for reduced saliva flow, mydriasis, increased SV & HR, vasocontraction, and the inhibition of bladder contraction. The parasympathetic system (acetylcholine) is responsible for stimulated saliva flow, miosis, decreased HR, bronchoconstriction, stimulated bile release, and bladder contraction.
