Shoulder Replacement Surgery

An animation displaying the anterior view of a shoulder replacement surgery. This procedure encompasses creating an incision to expose the glenohumeral joint. The head of the humerus is then reamed with a drill and cut with a bone saw in order to insert the humeral stem prosthesis and humeral head prosthesis.. The glenoid fossa of the scapula is then reamed in order to insert the glenoid prosthesis into the scapula. Lastly, the mobility of the joint is tested to ensure stability of the shoulder replacement.
