Revascularization

An animation showing revascularization following widespread infrarenal occlusive arterial disease. A percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting of the aorta and right iliac artery is performed. This procedure encompasses inserting a catheter into the right popliteal artery and advance it up to the blockages of the right iliac arteries and aorta. The catheter pauses at blockage locations for balloon inflation in order to place the stents and accomplish transluminal angioplasty. The same procedure is attempted on the left iliac artery, but the left external artery is perforated during inflation. The perforation is sealed with a covered stent and the procedure is completed. Lastly, an aortobifermoral bypass graft is attached to the aorta and the left and right common femoral arteries to ensure revascularization is achieved.
