Posterior Cervical Decompression

Posterior Cervical Decompression

This exhibit shows the posterior view of a cervical decompression procedure. A midline incision is created at C7-T1 of the spine and the surrounding skin and soft tissues are retracted. Next, a bur removes the right sides of the C7 and T1 laminae and the decompression is extended through a right facetectomy and foraminotomy. The pedicle screws and connecting rods are then placed in the C7 and T1 vertebrae.
