Normal Blood Clotting

Normal Blood Clotting

The cross sectional view of an artery showing the normal blood clotting following a small intimal tear. Normal clotting occurs when Von Willebrand factor strands arrive at the tear site. Then, ADAMTS13 protease molecules cut the Von Willebrand factor strands in order to capture platelets, attaching them to the intimal wall and forming a clot over the defect.
