Neutropenia

Neutropenia

A cut-away view of a vessel showing neutropenia in comparison to normal blood flow. The normal blood flow contains normal concentrations of red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), plasma, and platelets. The vessel with neutropenia is characterized by an abnormally low concentration of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell. Common symptoms of neutropenia include increased vulnerability to infection, mouth ulcers, gum pain, otitis, sore throat, cough, dyspnea, skin abscesses, low-grade fever, and perirectal pain.
