DVIU with Creation of False Passage

DVIU with Creation of False Passage

This exhibit displays the sagittal view of the male urinary system undergoing a DVIU procedure with creation of a false passage. In the preoperative condition, there is stenosis of the proximal urethra distal to the prostate. The cystoscope used in this procedure perforates through the posterior aspect of the urethra beneath the region of stenosis. Partial withdrawal of the scope occurs as the area is irrigated with saline. The fluid then passes through the false channel down into the scrotum. Anatomy highlighted in this exhibit includes the urethra, penis, bladder, prostate, scrotum, and the subcoronal hypospadias.
