Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy (DVIU) Procedure

Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy (DVIU) Procedure

This exhibit displays the sagittal view of the male urinary system undergoing a direct vision internal urethrotomy (DVIU) procedure. In the preoperative condition, there is stenosis of the proximal urethra distal to the prostate. During this procedure, a cystoscope is inserted through the urethra and a blade is used to slice the region of stricture. Anatomy highlighted in this view includes the urethra, penis, bladder, prostate, and the scrotum.
