Breast Reconstruction with Implantation of Tissue Expanders

Breast Reconstruction with Implantation of Tissue Expanders

This medical exhibit shows the anterior and sagittal views of the breast undergoing a reconstruction with the implantation of tissue expanders. In this procedure, the pectoralis muscle is elevated in order to insert the tissue expanders under the muscle. The serratus anterior and pectoralis muscle are then closed over the lateral portion of the expander with sutures and the expander is inflated with saline.
