AV Fistula for Hemodialysis

AV Fistula for Hemodialysis

An arterioveinous (AV) fistula is a direct connection of an artery and a vein, in this illustration the Brachial artery to the Basillic vein. Blood flows into the fistula from the artery, is pumped into the dialysis machine for filtration, and then returned to the patient via the Basillic vein.
