Amniotic Fluid Embolism With Close-Up View of the Lung Tissue
An amniotic fluid embolism occurs when fetal tissue and amniotic fluid pass through the placenta into the maternal circulation. The fetal material is carried through the major vessels into the mother's heart and lungs. This can sometimes lead to hemorrhage and death for the mother.
