At Trial Exhibits, our experienced Forensic Animators are able to simulate driving conditions such as weather, lighting, and speed that are simply astounding. Using their training in the art of visual perception, our forensic animators work with clients to choose whether jurors will view the accident from the perspective of the driver, from overhead, or another position to best convey the story to the panel. Animations are being used in all types of cases to simplify complex scientific processes, such as the development of sinkholes, recreate accidents, or even visually depict crimes. Animations of medical problems or procedures are incredibly useful in court as they are less invasive than video, able to illustrate hidden processes, and retain juror attention.
Forensic animations are not only educational and visually stunning to the jury, the computer-generated simulations can influence the verdict. In a study conducted by Kassin and Dunn (1997), mock jurors were presented with an unbiased animation of a man falling to his death or an animation supporting the plaintiff’s theory (of an accidental death due to a slip-and-fall) that was in contrast to the physical evidence.
When asked to provide a verdict supporting the plaintiff, the estate of the deceased, or the defense, an insurance carrier, the mock jurors who viewed the biased animation were more likely to provide verdicts favoring the plaintiff, despite the evidence. This research displays the powerful impact animations have on jurors.
Trial Exhibits’ Forensic Animation experts have the perfect blend of artistic talent, technical ability, and legal knowledge to create scientifically valid simulations and accurate re-creations of events and processes. Our animation team uses the same state-of-the-art equipment for visuals that Hollywood’s leading studios use for their blockbuster movies. If you can imagine it, we can create it, and with our years of experience, we are able to scale the project to meet your budget.
