$14 Million Verdict in Fatal Car Accident Case

Congratulations to Maureen Deskins and Christopher Knopik of Knopik Deskins Law Group for their favorable verdict during the McWilliams v. Belniak trial. The emotional week and a half trial came to an end with a jury verdict of $14 million in damages. There are reports of a $1 million settlement for the punitive damages in the case.

The jurors found that the defendant was solely responsible for the fatal crash that took place Christmas Day 2007, when Mr. Belniak’s truck collided with the SUV that Mr. McWilliams was driving killing the three passengers with him. The defendant filed a counterclaim, which accused the plaintiff of causing the accident.

Maureen Deskins maintained that “It was never about the money. They just wanted someone to tell them that what David Belinak did to them was wrong.”

Ms. Deskins and Mr. Knopik used Trial Exhibits, Inc. to provide consulting services, 3D accident animations, trial graphics and electronic trial presentation services during the trial.
